Voyager Academy Volleyball team lost Monday's away match against conference foe Franklin Academy by a score of 3-0 Sets (18-25; 18-25; 21-25).
The Lady Vikings topsy turvy season continued tonight in the den of the Lady Patriots. Searching for a sustainable formula, the Viking brain trust shuffled the deck again in an effort to find away to jump start the normally potent attack. However the affect was just the opposite as the V-crew appeared confounded and out-of-sync for most of the match.
After starting Set 1 fairly evenly early on, the Vikings woes began to emerge and mounted as Franklin built a double digit lead by the halfway point. The Vikings slowly began to chip away at the lead but found the mountain a bit too steep to climb yielding the set 25-18. Set 2 played out in similar fashion with Voyager landing in another crater and still unable to garner any on-court rhythm. The Ladies Vikings gave it a last ditch push in the third set matching the Lady Patriots point for point. With the score tied at 16-16, Franklin went on a 4-1 run they never renounced taking the set 25-21, and the match.
Voyager "Players of the Game" were Junior Setter #3 Kaley Stone (11 assists, 15 digs) and Freshman #7 Katie McLamb (9 kills, 10 digs). #4 Caitlin Leggett (Sr), #2 Kamryn Boyce (Jr), #5 Ashlyn Annis (So), and #12 Summer Matthews (Fr) combined for 8 kills & 27 digs.
