Voyager Academy basketball team found the mark while hosting visitors from "Down Under" shooting 48% from the field on Monday as the Vikings defeated the Australian National Team by a score of 100-66.
Voyager exploded for 30 points in the first quarter, jumping out to a 30-21 lead as both teams had difficulty stopping the other. The Vikings made six 3-pointers in the quarter on their way to a season-high 16 from behind the arc. Voyager marksmen hit 42% from 3-point range during the game. Michael Boadu scored 8 of his team high 20 points in the first quarter, and Haydn Lyons made two of of his five 3-points as well.
The offense stayed hot in the second quarter as Lyons made two more 3's. Taleik Pratt and Blake Buchanan each scored 5 of their 13 points in the quarter. The 57-40 halftime lead grew to 82-52 at the end of the third quarter and the Vikings cruised to victory.
Lyons finished with 15 points, all on 3 pointers. Boadu added a team-high 8 rebounds plus 5 assists. Buchanan had a team-high 7 assists. Pratt added 4 assists. Jordan Love, playing for the first time all season, contributed 10 points and added 6 rebounds and 4 steals. Tanner Dobson narrowly missed double figures, scoring 9 and adding 3 assists.
