2017 (Junior): Made 16 appearances, earning a 1-0 record with seven saves while working as the closer before an injury forced him to miss the final month of the season. Recorded a strikeout in all 16 appearances. Worked in 20.2 innings, striking out 24 hitters.

2016 (Sophomore): Appeared in 27 games earning a team-best 2.52 Earned Run Average, ninth-best in single season history. Earned a 5-2 record and tied for a team-best four saves. Struck out 60 batters on the year.

2015 (Freshman): Made 14 appearances on the mound and started six games. Worked his way into the weekend rotation in the latter part of the season as the Spartans' Sunday starter. Tallied 31 strikeouts in 32.2 innings pitched with a 1-0 record. Held opposing batters to a .231 average.

High School: Named 2014 preseason Honorable Mention All-America by Perfect Game. Earned first-team all-state, first-team all-conference, conference player of the year and team MVP accolades the last two seasons. Team defensive MVP honors as a sophomore. In 2012, helped lead the Vikings to a conference title, sectional championship, regional crown and a state runner-up finish. Voyager repeated as conference and sectional champion in 2013 and came in second in the region. As a junior, Sykes was 6-1, threw 49.3 innings and struck out 72 batters against just 14 walks and did not give up a home run.  At the plate, Sykes hit .410 with an on base percentage of .535 and posted 21 RBI and 17 stolen bases. His junior season, he hit .451 with a slugging percentage of .686 and an on-base mark of .556 while tallying 23 hits, 24 runs scored, two doubles, two triples, two home runs and 10 stolen bases.
